The subtropical climate of the country bears the moderate nature. Since Uruguay is located between 30 and 35° S. in the draft of the continent, its climate bears transitional nature between the temperate zone and the tropics. Winters here short and soft, are extremely rare frost. The average temperature of coldest winter month, July is around 50° F. Therefore the cattle can be grazed entire winter and does not need the expensive accomodations for the wintering. Summer warm, average January temperatures vary in the limits of 71-80° F. Sometimes in the hot and moist days the temperature rises above 100° F; however, heat more easily it is transferred because of the cool day breeze. Rains fall out more or less evenly during the entire year, and their total quantity increases from the South to the north from 38" in the region of estuary la plata to 51" on the extreme North. The maximum of rains is fallen to the autumn; however, not less than 5-6" of sediments falls out into the season. |
